Putting Public Procurement into Practice – Procurement without Corruption

Objective

The main objective of the 7th Regional Public Procurement Forum is to share information among the participating countries and key active donors.  The event will facilitate exchange of knowledge and ideas on public procurement systems with a view to further improve procurement practices, transparency and integrity in public procurement.

Event Highlights

The Forum will discuss opportunities in the area of electronic procurement, concessions and utilities law, recent assessment by EBRD on public procurement system in several countries in the region, latest development in UNCITRAL model law, critical issues in public procurement. The Forum will also take stock on the recent reform on public procurement in all the 11 participating countries.

Participation

The Forum is being attended by about 50 professionals and donor officials including about 26 high level government officials responsible for public procurement in 11 countries (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, FYR of Macedonia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Georgia and Uzbekistan); and representatives from the Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Islamic Development Bank, USAID, EC, GIZ and the World Bank. In addition to presentations by participants and donors, speakers from public procurement regulatory bodies from Brazil, UNCITRAL and SIGMA will also make presentations.

The Regional Public Procurement Forum is a yearly event where every year one country from the participating countries agrees to host it.  This year, the Forum is being hosted by the State Procurement Agency of Georgia and cosponsored by the Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Islamic Development Bank, and the World Bank.

Expected Results and Action Plan

At the end of the Forum, the participating countries will discuss an action plan for the next year and also agree on the host for the next forum.
